I also did something a little crazy and way out of my comfort zone.

The Big Book of Favorite Scrap Quilts (Martingale)
I wanted it larger so I added a row and a column, and planned
on working in a second pieced border before the geese. I tried
every idea I could think of before I threw in the towel rotary cutter
and finally went with the plain borders as you see in the finish pic.
In the end it didn't really matter since I was out of the ivory
background scraps anyway! That was a clear sign that I
needed to just throw on a solid border and move on but
I couldn't do even that without some quality over-thinking.
Oi vey, right?
By the way, the geese are an adorable 1" x 2" and they make my
quilter's heart and soul happy...which kinda makes me regret not
naming it Heart & Soul because I feel like I gave it some of that!

My final note is that this might be one of the rare times that
I think No Border just might be best. Next time I'll just add
even more rows and columns.
My plan for this one is to hang it on the wall at the top of our
stairway just outside my studio as a "welcome to my studio."
I've never wanted to hang a full quilt before but I just love seeing
all of these fabrics that I've used in so many of my quilts, which
is why I'm calling it A Quilter's Life. Maybe after a couple months
I'll list it but right now I want to see it.
3) Should I make another quilt for the blog hop?
I decided no, I have too many other things to get to.
4) Finish charity quilt top
I'm not working on this one very often but here's
where I'm at so far:
I'm just making something simple from donated fabric.
I'm not big on the diagonal pattern I didn't realize I was
creating but I thought just 6 fabrics couldn't pull off random
very well. I might with the row layout but I don't want to
invest much more time.
5) Garden and yard work
I planted carrots, brussels sprouts, spinach, broccoli and beets.
More recently I added in some herbs and cabbage; the potatoes
are next. And oh yeah, I'm already picking asparagus!
Another hard-freeze is likely but I don't mind covering things
if I can get an early start (and a jump on the bugs!).
I've been getting in quite a bit of golf so my step average has
been going up. This week's average was well over 12K but I still
want to see more. But oh, that golf takes up a lot of time!

2) Work on next quilt: "One-Roll Wonder"
I've already gotten a start on it. It's a very simple pattern by
Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson and is another selection
from The Big Book of Favorite Scrap Quilts. I thought would be
helpful in my quest to move out more Bonnie and Camille fabrics.
(Actually, that's a good hint for #1, my Week 13 Priority!)
3) Work on charity quilt if time allows.
Time probably won't allow but you never know...

Alrighty then. This was my first go at anything like this so it was
an experience to be sure and I'm glad I just put myself out there.
So, so out of my comfort zone but I think reaching my mid-century
mark a couple years ago may have given me a bit of a healthy
YOLO attitude. Angela is always looking for quilter's willing to share
so you might want to tap into that YOLO attitude yourself?

A quick 2024's fabric tracking check-in:
I am 3 yards into the negative this year!
[Meaning: I've used more than I've purchased.]
A small amount but it's. in. the. negative!
2024 Fabric Purchases: 35.75yds
2024 Fabric Usage: 38.75yds
Overall total yardage: +183yds
Looking ahead to my future projects, I see no need for any
fabric purchases so I feel I'm really going to start chipping
away at that overall total [since I started keeping track].
Stellar.
On that happy note, it's time for little more chipping away.
At my stash for sure, but also on the golf course, of course!
