Welcome back for another visit!
And oh goodness: happy fall, the greatest time of the year!
Just FYI the porch pic is from a few years back; I didn't get
time to grow near that many gourds/pumpkins this year,
and I haven't even finished my fall decorating--yet.
The weather has been wonderfully mild, leaves are just beginning
to turn and the squirrels are busy, busy, busy--and so am I.
There are quilts to work on, golf to play and, well, other exciting
things building around here but I'll keep that under wraps, for now.
It's just that life has thrown us a huge curveball!
We're excited but I'm concerned about the time it'll take me away
from quilting. Lately, it seems like something always is but
constant, gentle reminders to myself that everything is in God's
hands keeps the worry at bay. That said, I'm still doing
my best to make every sewing minute count!
So let's check in on what I've been up to in the studio:
1) Continue on with Unity QAL; find background fabric
Good progress.
All approx 3,560 HST's are sewn, cut, papers pulled and trimmed.
I also knocked out the next step--sewing into pairs--but it is
there that I've stopped, still woefully behind but one of these days...
I did finally find a background that I felt was at least
passable; it's cut and ready to go, too.
Some of this project is sitting at my sewing machine, begging
to be sewn into blocks--and believe me, I'm dying to dive in!
But first, the fall quilts...
2) Start on baby gift: Polaroid I-Spy quilt
Completed. And gifted.
54 x 58
Sorry, not a great pic but I was in a hurry.
(What else is new?)
3) Perhaps start planning Acorn quilt
On hold.
Pulled fabrics but realized I need more--ugh--but hey,
just last week I scored on all of it so I'm good to go now.
Other finishes!
I recently attacked two charity projects, deciding it was time
to get them moved out. You see, in the busyness of everything,
we're also in a serious purge mode so out these two came.
And were promptly finished!
You'll immediately notice these are not my fabrics. I picked up
a decent amount of donated fabrics from our church sewing
group....hmm, I think it's been 1 or 2 years now? Yikes! In that
time, I've only made one other quilt for them but now I get
to add more to it.
50 x 50
It my not quite be my taste but I do like how it turned out.
54 x 54
This top was given to me to do with as I wanted.
This is going to charity as well.
No room is going untouched in this purge and I feel this is
a good start on the sewing closet. Also out the door went
supplies for crafts that I no longer do. Well done, says me!
I'd love to keep chewing down the charity fabrics but the shop
screams for attention. Since I last posted, I've sold 3 quilts but
I haven't replenished a thing. Over the summer, when I usually
pick up my pace, is when the Change chain of events began, but
I'm hoping I can catch up pretty quickly over these next few months
before...well, I'll save that for another post.
But hey, as always, I do have plans! Here we go!
1) Finish pumpkin quilt; name, pic and list in shop.
Here's one that hasn't even made it to the to-do list
yet and it's already quilted--huzzah!
73 x 83
It just needs a label and binding--scheduled for today!
The pattern, "Hello Pumpkin" by MSQC, is one I've made once
before but I'd forgotten how big it is for a throw quilt.
Loving it!
2) Finish next fall quilt; name, pic and list in shop
Next, another quilt that hasn't had its debut on the list yet.
It's progressing nicely and quickly which always makes for
a good time. Can you feel the fall quilt excitement building??
Cute little pumpkins, eh?
The pattern is "Pick of the Patch" by Wendy Sheppard and
will be just a bit smaller than the previous throw quilt.
3) Finally start on the acorn quilt!
4) Plan next few quilts and make out shop hop list
And for a quick check on the fabric tracking:
Purchased: 134.6 yds
Used: 122.6yds
Net: 12 yds
This is the best I've done since I started tracking but with the
Shop Hop in 9 days, I need to knock out two more finishes to
get well into the negative before I go raiding the local shops.
I struggle to get posts out these days but in the next one I'l
recap of the shop hop w/quilty pics and hopefully share
a little more news on Our Big Change. 😏 😁
Happy quilting!
