2022 Tuesday To-Do #23: A Finish, a New Project (Sort of) and Exciting News Times Two

Welcome August!
And welcome 'Do'ers dropping by from

I'm doing my best to get a little done here
and there without sitting too much.  My back
is still giving me some pretty strong pain and
my patience is wearing thin.  How can I distract
myself when my two happy places are off-limits?
So yeah, I'm sitting a little here and there, okay?

1) Quilt Christmas Grace; finish?
DONE.
Since machine quilting is a standing
activity this was an easy accomplishment.

This was one of three finishes for July
so it has been a great month!
And now my pile of quilt tops is no more!

2) Maybe progress on other two projects?
DONE!
I haven't shared much on this next project yet but
actually started it last month.  Finishing up the
Pile 'O Quilt Tops has left me free to give it my
full attention so it's time to let you all in on it.

I'm kind of a fan of Erica Arndt's patterns.

This is the first quilt that I made from Erica's
pattern Peppermint Pines back in Jan '21.

And you'll recognize this second one that I just finished up
last month.  While I was working on that, I came across my
copy of her Farm House Fall pattern and decided it should
be my next project--especially with fall around the corner.
Erica's version is light and cheery but, as usual, I gotta
do fall my way.

Here's the progress (showing my colors) I've made
so far and my little fall-loving heart is quite happy.
If you didn't click on the link to see the pattern,
next week's post will show the design.

Now for the exciting news times TWO!
I've been sitting on these long enough!
It's time to share!

Firstly, my oldest daughter is expecting the arrival of
their third child (our third grandchild) in January!
Waahoo!
Time to put another baby quilt on the list, eh?

Also, the cadet has officially been chosen to be
a Team Captain for West Point's Track Team!
We are such proud parents!  And I can't believe he's
already starting his last year!   We have four WP trips
planned throughout the year so far but I know I'll
never get enough of it.   What will we do when it's over!??
I hope we'll continue to visit occasionally
especially in the fall when it's so, so pretty.

Goals for next week
1) Finish pumpkin blocks, maybe start piecing top together?

2) Figure out a project for the
Get On Board With Sewing Blog Hop in September

I have a couple ideas...

I think that should be it for me.  I'm just hoping I show
some better progress in the healing department this week!

Happy quilting!

Impressive getting your too-be-quilted piled all done. I’ve been making some progress on mine too. Love the quilts you showed today. For saying your not making great progress I think you are. Sorry about the back issues. They are a pain in the……. Have a happy sewing week.
Let’s see - hope the back pain leaves you soon. I am blessed after having 4 back surgeries I have no pain, but I do have 2 more that are probably gone. My brace helps as needed. My walking and bike exercise help keep me in shape and going. Of course I do not lift anything over 10 pounds.

WOW 3 grand babies to spoil! Lucky you!

The Cadet is someone to really admire and be proud of!

I love both of your quilts! Have a great day and get that back going again! Hugs
I'm so sorry to hear that your back pain isn't letting up. That would be frustrating! Hopefully a few Autumn leaves at a time won't hurt - they sure are pretty! Congratulations on ths expected new member of the family and your cadet doing so well, too.

Hi Cheree! I am so sorry to hear that your back is still giving you fits. I hope this next week is a good healing one for you. Congrats on grandbaby #3 and woohoo for the cadet! Wowee - what a great way to finish off his last year. As far as your Farm House Fall pattern colors, I LOVE the fabrics you chose for the leaves. I can't wait to see what you use for the pumpkins. Please take care of yourself. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

If you can't sit for long have you tried standing up and sewing? I have in the camper from time to time, sitting the sewing machine on the Island cabinet. Perhaps you can rig up something in your house to do that. Love your Christmas quilts!
Sorry about your back, I hope you will get better soon. Beautiful finishes, I love the pine tree forest!
Congratulations for the family achievements!

Just playing a bit of catch-up here. I had to go back and read about your back. I’m so sorry. I can understand why your patience is growing thin. I do hope you can lessen the pain quickly and get back to your happy place. LOVE your Farmhouse Fall leaves. The pumpkins with them in the fall colors will be so pretty. Congratulations to all on the news. You’ll be snuggling that little one before you know it. Congratulations also to the Cadet. How can those years be coming to a close so soon?
