2021 Tuesday To-Do #24

How was everyone's holiday?
We had glorious weather--hot enough to get in
the pool but nothing that made you miserable if
you weren't.   We ate, drank and were merry
as we did our part in lighting up the sky.

On to the order of biz for the day because, as
they say, there's no business like sew business.
Or something like that.

West Point Quilt
Finalize & pick fabric
Not yet.  Every time I think I've finally
zero'd in, I go back to looking at more ideas.

Positivity Quilt #1:
Choose panto, load on frame; figure out a name.
Mostly done.

Two of you helped me come up with a great
name for Pos #1!  Cinnamon Latte!
It's positively perfect--love it!

I've chosen the panto but still need
to get everything loaded up.

Positivity Quilt #2
Finish blocks and begin piecing.
Done.  And more!

If you were particularly observant last week when
I posted my July Monthly Goals, you saw my little
"extra" on the quilt wall with these blocks.

I came across this panel when I was picking through
my stash for fabrics.  I always thought it would make a
nice touch on the back of a quilt but it found its way to
the front of this one where I literally and figuratively
built the entire quilt around it.  It's hanging for this
pic so things don't look that straight but they are.

I needed to make it stand out without taking anything
away from the black pluses so I inserted a thin flange.
Quilting over this will be an issue but I'll work with it.

Another top completed, unless I add borders.
It's driving me crazy to not have this in proper
lighting but I guess all in due time.  It'll be quilted
soon and the finish pics shall reveal all.

Garden:  Lots.
Done.
Paths weeded, remaining potatoes dug and onions
mostly pulled.  It's always a relief to see the early
crops wind down and watch the fall ones take over.

My favorite garden day of the year, next to picking
the pumpkins and gourds, is planting the pumpkins
and gourds!   They're now all in and are already
starting to poke through.  Huzzah!

Looking ahead:
Well, the sad day has arrived.  There just comes that
time for everyone to be back to their respective places.
Our oldest son, home for the weekend, is back in Omaha
and the cadet and will be back at West Point tomorrow
for field training before the school year begins.
Time for me to get caught up on things and then
focus on those finishes.

Load and begin quilting

Your both Positivity quilts are lovely. Great idea to add a thin border around the center. Sorry for the kids leaving home, and I guess this week will be busy quilting, stitching, and gardening.

Cinnamon Latte is so appropriate for the first plus quilt! Glad you had a great weekend with your boys home.
I did notice that panel section in your plus quilt - such a great idea! It's looking great! Glad you had your kids home for the holiday weekend. I know how hard it is to see them go. Have a great week!

Cinnamon Latte! "grin"! It is hard when the "company" goes back to their own lives. But it's ok in the big scheme of things. No lighting of the skies here in dry, dry Wyoming. I sort of missed it. Another year will be better. I hope your life settles and you are able to accomplish all things on your list. It always blows me away when I think, you are already thinking fall crops. I am just hoping my small bucket of tomatoes don't get hailed on. And will ripen before our first frost! Such differences in climate across our nation.

Cinnamon Latte is a great name for Poz #1!! I love the panel added to the second Poz quilt; I think that will be very comforting to the recipient. So glad you enjoyed a fun weekend with the guys, but I know how sad it is when they have to leave. We had a quiet weekend, with three in this house down with a virus (not me).

Perfect name for your plus quilt, and it's looking great! I'm enjoying your garden updates. I have to put on long sleeves, long pants, boots, and spray myself to kingdom come to go in the yard because of the chiggers plague; consequently not much gets done. I'm sorry about your sad day. :(

Looks like you are getting it done on the positivity! I imagine you are just as positive as your quilts! Thanks for linking up, good luck with your next list of goals!

Cinnamon Latte is perfect! The center panel of the other plus quilt is so perfect. What a nice added touch.
We dug potatoes this weekend too! this is the first year of big success with potatoes so that was great. Our pumpkins are going full force with lots of small ones on the vines and some that are already not-so-small. Fun stuff!
You chose the name well, Cheree! And I absolutely love your positivity quilt with the scripture in the center!! Wonderful job!

Hi Cheree! I am thrilled to say that I received notice of your post just perfectly. Woohoo! And Cinnamon Latte - what a fabulous name that sums up a positively Positivity quilt just great. I wondered about the center block on Pos #2 - what a great use of that panel and an encouraging message to boot. {{Hugs}} You'll get that WP quilt-to-be on track when the time is right. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love the name for Pos #1! It’s perfect and it looks like a good panto for it. The panel is fabulous for Pos #2. Great idea! Sorry the gang has all departed. I know it is bittersweet. I’m sure you will find plenty to occupy your mind between gardening and quilting.
Great center for the positivity quilt.
