Entire weeks disappear while I try to write posts so I'll get right to it:
Today I have another pull from my Quiltmageddon pile. To move out a
KS Troubles layer cake, I chose the Pony Express pattern (BLOCK v 4 Is 5).
As with most precuts, there were a few too many neutrals so I hit up
my stash where I was able to find enough other KT fabrics to fill in.
I'm a Finisher so all of this setting-blocks-aside stuff until I have my
design wall back has been bugging me. I needed at least a top finish.
In our wee temporary digs, this meant laying everything out
on the floor in a different room, Old-School style.
Poor lighting; it's much brighter! Possible name: Directives
entire top done (and backing too) but it was also a pain in the @$$.
(And legs and knees and back.)
I don't think I'll be doing that again. This Finisher is just gonna
have to deal with not finishing quilts for a bit longer.
But good news: We're now well under 2 months to move in.
I've given a few sneak peeks into our new home but I think it's
time for a look at the outside so today I have two sneak peeks:
The brick and rock are now on and we're loving it!
The dust hasn't been cleaned off yet but you get the idea.
Note the siding is still just primed and not our final colors.
In back, the dining room has the greatest view but because it'll get
hit with a bit more of the elements, rocking this section is part of
the plan to minimize maintenance as we near retirement age.
We're so in love with this rock and already wish we'd done more.
Inside, the painters have been staining, taping, priming, painting
and fixing every tiny blemish. With the windows, tile and cabinets
covered for weeks, we're very anxious for them to be done so we
can get a "final reveal" of it all. We're finally getting close!
Back to quilty things:
Up next is another fast and easy one from BLOCK v5 Is6.
(Having easy access to my BLOCK mags in my temp space, you'll
see a lot of my Quiltmageddon projects coming from them.)
I'm taking the easy-road on the name too and simply
calling mine "Christmas Candy". (Soo original, right?!?)
Again I'm moving out more pre-cuts that have graced the shelf
for long enough. I think this might be my third quilt from
this fabric line? That's plenty by any quilter's standards.
Next week's goals:
1) Finish Christmas Candy
1) Finish Christmas Candy
2) Cut out next Quiltmageddon project
Fabric Tracking
I still feel like I'm much slower in my temp space but,
as we all say, progress is progress and here's where I'm at:
2026 Fabric in: 110 yds
2026 Fabric used: 55 yds
I've done a great job keeping the purchases low so I think I can
get back into the positive easily by the end of the year. And just
maybe start chipping away at my overall numbers.
Since I started tracking:
Fabric In: 1428yds
Fabric In: 1428yds
Fabric Used: 1169 yds
Why do I keep track? What can I say?
I'm the odd quilter that enjoys being held accountable!
Until next week, happy quilting!
