Week 50: Berry Crumble Finish

Once again it's time to check in here at the Morning Latte.
Another lovely Thanksgiving has come and gone, and with it
went autumn.  Forget the calendar; winter is setting in.
Only a little snow but plenty of days in the 30's, and a few lower.

To protect the grass, the courses only allow golfers on when the
thermometer hits 40.   I really miss being so active--oy, the aches
and pains that set in from sitting around!--but at least the
extra time can be spent in the sewing room!

As mentioned in my last post, I didn't focus on any quilt goals
over the holiday week.  But once things went back to normal,
I went back to my usual quilt-making pace and I knocked out
yet another quilt--another big quilt at that.

Berry Crumble Irish Chain (87x99)

Berry Crumble is made from 2.5" strips.

In this case, I raided my scrap bins first and then my stash,
and then somehow that resulted in my red scrap jar being
more full than when I started (I know, right!?!).

I chose these colors to move out all of my neutral scraps but
when I went to pull them...well, there really wasn't that much.
To boot, they didn't seem to go together as well as I thought
they would.  I kept going, but I wasn't happy about it.
In short, there was a lot of nose-wrinkling going on.

I made repeated attempts to find more neutrals.
WHERE are they!?  I just KNOW I have more somewhere!
Well, to be short again, I finally found a bunch...about the
time I was almost done, of course, and though I really
wanted to switch some of those squares out, I was also
ready to wash my hands of this thing so I only added
what I still needed to finish it up.  Certainly a border
and the quilting will pull it all together??

Why, yes!  I think it did!
And gosh, there's just nothing like a good 'ol Irish chain, eh?
I might be making a lot more of them very soon.  I'm really
struggling with wanting to make queen-sized quilts but they
can be so hard on the shoulders [rotary cuff issues = bad golf!]
so perhaps more of an "every other one" plan would be best.

Looking to the week ahead:

I've started pulling fabrics for one more Christmas quilt.
I'm not sure it'll work but if not, I'll get something going.
Sure, it's likely too late to list it but tis the season, ya know?

SO, my only goal for the week ahead is to pull fabrics for
and begin my next project.

Happy quilting!
