Week 45: Pumpkin Seeds Finish & Night Flight Beginning

"As long as autumn lasts, I shall not have hands, canvas
and colors enough to paint the beautiful things I see."
- Vincent van Gogh

I'm no painter but how about:
"As long as autumn lasts, I shall not have hands, thread
& fabric enough to quilt the beautiful things I see!"
--Cheree of The Morning Latte

Yeah, I'm totally using that one.

So, how did your week shape up?  Has the season
got your quilty-head reeling with all the colors, too?
If not, maybe this post will do the trick?
And if not the colors then maybe the pumpkins?

Week 45 Progress:

1) Finish Pumpkin Seeds (4th!):  Done.

50x62

Another finish (incl pics and listing).

After making so many of these, there's not much
left to say other than it's good to have another finish...

...so I that can move on to my next project!

2)  Start next quilt
One more fall quilt?  Christmas?  Start on next year's?
In the end, it was an easy decision.  With autumn bursting
all around, I couldn't bring myself to move on to winter.

I finally tore into a bolt of solid black I picked up a couple years
back.  I've had plenty of ideas for it but other projects always
came first.  After finally knocking out my recent customer
requested quilts, I was feeling some spontaneity was in order.
And because I really need to get moving on the next season,
something fast and simple wouldn't hurt.

Next week I will share the pattern, and very likely a finished quilt.
For now, I'll just share that I'm going with "Night Flight" for the name.

As mentioned, I need to move on to winter quilts so as I've
been making this, I've been mulling over if I want to try the
same pattern out in holiday colors?  Or maybe just blues
on an ivory background?  We'll see how it finishes up and
if I'm still in the mood to do the same quilt again by then.

3) Pack something
Some progress!  Finally.

And now, a random fabric tracking check:
Fabric In:  188.55yds
Fabric Used:  182.46yds
Net for 2025:  +6.09yds

If I can come up with a backing for Night Flight out of my stash,
I should be so very close to breaking even by next week but,
unless I go with solid black on the back (thereby depleting my
black bolt completely), I'm likely going to have to go shopping.
I do have an idea for the back but it requires more work.
SIGH.  The numbers have been this close most of the year
but I WILL finish strong!

Looking to next week:

1) Finish Night Flight; quilt, pic and list
Finishing will depend on if I have a backing.

2) Start next quilt.
Unlike last week, I'm feeling ready to start on
something with a winter/Christmas theme.

And that's a wrap!
See ya next week & happy quilting!

Ooh, I can't wait to see the new one, considering your blocks and name mean it's a Flying Geese style? One of my fave blocks. And I love how your claimed the quote with your own spin!!

Cheree when I saw those vibrant geese I declare my heart skipped a beat. They are going to become one stunning quilt. Can’t wait to see your plan for them and what your next project will be. Congrats on getting some packing done. Hope you have another productive week and find the perfect backing or if you have to make it, it won’t be too onerous. Thank you for sharing on ToDo Tuesday.
Your Pumpkin Seeds finish is awesome. I didn't see the first three; but, I'm impressed you hung in there for making the same blocks for four quilts! I like your fabric pull for your new project!
