Last Quilt of the Year is Almost Done Brewing

My latest project is brewing up nicely.
The pattern, by Carolyn Beam for Benartex, is a keeper.
(But note that they've forgotten one thing in the cutting
directions.  Fwd to step 6 and you'll see what's missing.)
I hope to make another some day.   When I was planning
this one, I actually came up with several beautiful schemes
but settled on the coffee cups because they're a good fit
for the recipient.   I think it says something for a pattern if
you can easily find fabrics for it.  Likely it's just because
there are just so few to find but still worth noting.

You know?  Some times you need to be challenged.
And other times?  You just want to have a little
sewing fun.  I toss this one in the "fun" column.

Picking up where I left off yesterday,
the rest of the blocks went together in no time.
I even have them sewn into rows.

It never ceases to amaze me the time difference
between making a big queen quilt and a
not-that-much-smaller lap one.

And there it is.
I actually have the latest phone and it takes great pics but
when you combine the darkness and my rushing around,
(I had dinner to make yet) I guess you get a fuzzy pic.
Once the rows are sewn up, I'll remedy that.
I'm not planning on a border, though I do think a
simple black one--about 4"--would look nice.
At 72" x 72" I think it's plenty big for a lap quilt.
Thoughts?

Is this my last quilt of the year?
I have no plans to give any for Christmas
so even if I do start another, I'll likely set it aside
once everyone is home for the holidays.
Yet, this quilt top has only taken a few days to put
together so hmm...

Anyone notice the fully lit Christmas tree there?
A true Christmas miracle.
I'll say no more.

Happy quilting!

I have missed a post or two, but catching up now. This one is a real beauty! I can tell you are having fun with the empty house and plenty of sewing time:)
ah...new tree looks beautiful in the photo.
And love the black and white trees 2 posts before....boy have I been out. The quilting looks wonderful on it. Good job.
Enjoy the quiet for now, soon the house will be full and you will be on the go . Merry Christmas.
That is beautiful. I think I'll be hunting out that pattern.
I like the quilt top. You'll have to link to the pattern (and tell them about the correction needed).
