Finished Thirties Blocks--Time to Get Sashy

The thirties blocks are done!

We got another nice rain last night and it's a refreshing
61 degrees out there so I'm off to spend some time
pruning the tomatoes and picking peas and green beans.

While I'm off doing all of that, I'll be sharing on
here what I've been working on in the sewing room.

The last 8 blocks:

Scrappy 30's is the theme.

My stash has really been pared down
which is always a good feeling.

I have a lot of small pieces now that I want to use up
so I'm putting some thought into how I might put them
into a border using an element (or 2) from the blocks.

For example. I've been wondering how I could use the "V"
section of the above blocks in a border.  Opposing?
Going all one direction?  Opposing with something
between (as in the entire center row of the block)?

Windmills.

With this block, I accidentally put the yellow in the middle
instead of the red as intended.  So then I had to
cut a few more pieces because, hey, who wants to rip?!?
Then I put one of the blue sections on upside down.
😩
(I just thought I was getting out of ripping!)
So this above block was dubbed PIA.
(I'll let you figure out what that stands for...😈)
There's a point or two that don't match up so
well but I wanted this block over with so there
they are...uh, giving it character.
Just always has to be one doesn't there??
😀

And this wraps up the last blocks for the Irish Chain quilt.

I'm holding off showing all of them together for now.
Hopefully by the time you're reading this, the gardening
will be done and I'll be back in the sewing room
gettin' sashy with it.
Can't wait to see it all sewn up and then start playing
around with the borders!

Happy quilting!

The blocks look great....but that garden is huge! Soon it will be canning season.

Wow, nice large garden. Your blocks look great, even the PIA.

Quilts with 30s fabrics are always so cheerful! One idea for a border is to do a 'piano key' design. It uses up fabric, especially smaller pieces, and looks pretty, too.
It is a PIA when you have to frog stitch. Lots of nice blocks. With all the rain, I'm sure your garden is growing well.
