Week 25: A Quick One

Anyone else like creating displays to inspire your next projects?
Above are some recent fabric purchases and if you zoom in,
you'll see a calendar that is a bit behind...like me!
Just look at that patriotic FQ set.
Completely untouched and the 4th is next week!

Before I get too into all of this, let's grab our coffee
and have a look at last week.

* * * Week 25 Priority * * *
Completely finish Pepitas II.
Quilted, labeled, bound, pictured and listed.

Not quite.  It turns out that prolonged absences from
one's studio can wreak a little havoc on the ol' sew-jo.
Plus, this is a big quilt!  But the top is finally done,
the backing pieced and the batting is airing.

2) Choose next project
I'm still deciding on what to do with that patriotic
fat quarter set up there.  I have 3 quilts in mind
but I'm not really sold on any of them just yet.

Other things:

I was on the golf course 8 times in 10 days, walking every
round (two of which were VERY windy).  So, while I didn't
cover a lot of distance with my sewing machine, I definitely
did with my feet.  I may have been dragging yesterday but
I'm pretty proud of those numbers.

There's a whole pace-of-play when golfing so stopping for pics
is not cool, unless you're waiting for the slow group in front of you.
This is when I busy myself with things like the "golf pic of the day".
All that wind brought in some rain but as the last sprinkles fell,
I was back out there (in the humidity!) smacking around a
little white ball when this guy caught my attention.

Next week!!
I gotta tell you fall fever is already trying to grab me and I'm
pushing it away for now but in just a week, I'll be planting
gourds and pumpkins.  I already know what my first fall
quilt will be.  Oooh, I can feel it coming--but no, no!
First I need to make something not-so-fall.

* * * Week 26 Priority * * *
Finish Pepitas II.
Quilt, label and bind; take pics and list.
(It's on my schedule to quilt tomorrow.)

2) Start on next project
Flags ?  Or houses?  Or just stars?
That's my only hint right now.

3) Plan out next 6 months of quilting
When we hit the mid-year point, I get excited about the days
getting shorter again.  Hallelujah, we're on the downward slope!
Somehow that makes it just a tad easier to deal with the heat.
I also like to make a quilting game plan for the next 6 months
because focusing on all the themes of the cooler months also
gets me through July and August.

Happy quilting!

That is a pretty display. I have my 4th of July fabrics laid out and am just enjoying them. I just changed my calendar from May to June yesterday - lol! I feel exactly the same about the time of year. "It is only six months till Christmas" is what I keep telling myself to get through this UGH heat!

I don't care for the hot days either. But your RWB bundle is so pretty! Thanks for sharing in my Sew and Tell party.

I have to admit, I'm starting to look forward to fall weather. It's like a sauna outside today! I have not done photo props for quite awhile, I should try to do that again. Your Pepita II is beautiful - will be fun to see how you quilt it! Looking forward to seeing your new project, too. Well done on those steps!

Hi Cheree!! I just love your display of sewing motivation. There's a lot to delve into - all of those fabrics are so pretty. Prolonged absences do wreak havoc on sew-jo but it also makes the heart grow fonder. All of a sudden your sew-jo will smack you so hard you'll be running to your studio. Yay you on the steps!! I've been keeping mine up, too, and I think of you often wondering how you're doing. HAHA - I've been thinking about pumpkin spice and I don't even drink that kind of coffee. It will be Fall in no time . . . pumpkins and gourds rule. {{Hugs}} a bunch. ~smile~ Roseanne
Such a beautiful and decorative display! If I had a display like that, I might not cut it up!

Hi Cheree. Your display is sew cute. Definitely inspiring! Pepitas 2 is lovely and definitely a big one. Very ambitious golf schedule especially in the heat. We’ve been lucky with cooler weather and of course it’s Junuary which means lots of rain before the heat of July and August. So far only 1 road closed here due to wildfires. Good luck on this weekly lust. I’m looking forward to seeing Pepitas 2 quilted and what you decide to do with your RWB fabric bundle. Thank you for joining To Do Tuesday. 😉 Carol

You have some fun fabrics to play with for the 4th of July quilt. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on. Congrats on all the steps, that's pretty impressive. It is hard to come back to the sewing room after being gone for a even a week. Good luck with your goals for next week and the next 6 months. Hard to believe we are at midyear already.
