My last post started out "Happy March.!" I feel like saying
"Where did March go?" but I know exactly where it went!
I'm sharing that today (psst, grab your coffee) but first:
Hey! Happy April!
One of our sons was just relocated back to Fort Moore/Benning
in Columbus, GA. By a real happy coincidence, hubs makes very
frequent trips down there for work so a few weeks ago I tagged
along for a visit--knitting project and golf clubs in tow, of course!
My son and I took in two rounds of golf while poor hubs had
to work but hopefully someday soon he can play this course.
Bull Creek is a new fave of mine and I recommend it for
the golfers out there. Sooo pretty, and a lot of fun.
I'm excited to play it again when things have greened up, and to
try their second course (above) which is considered the prettier
and more challenging. I've heard there are plans for a third
and a new clubhouse that will overlook the 18th greens.
(My kinda place to hang out!)
A week later, I packed up my knitting and clubs again
to tag along on another biz trip--this time to Florida.
It's a little hard to randomly choose courses online and I didn't pick
a great one for my first round but the second one made up for it.
There I had a grand ol' time so I played all 27 holes.
(With 3 9-hole courses, they vary the combination of 2
to make up the day's 18-hole round. I was pretty early
so the nice starter let me "warm up" on the other 9-hole.)
I found a quilt shop called Inspired Quilting & Sewing.
They seemed to be in the middle of a shop hop
and there were deals going on.
I love Tilda Fabrics but they don't quite fit with my
usual style so I just admire them whenever I see them.
I don't see them often so I really enjoyed this big selection.
I haven't been quilting much these days so
I didn't need anything but I enjoyed looking around.
Hope you enjoyed looking around as well.
I and my frizz-prone long hair can do without Florida's
heat and humidity but I do love all the seafood!
I didn't get to see an alligator on a golf course so I'm hoping
for the full experience when I go back again next year...as long
as I'm in a golf cart (though I do prefer to walk)!
After just three days at home, it was back to the friendly skies
again but because this trip is bigger and more awesome, it gets
its own post next week. (No golf but plenty of knitting!)
There will be some great pics so you'll want to catch that one!
With all the travel, there was very little progress
but let's have a quick check-in anyway:
Week 9 - 14 Progress
1) Finish Nestled in the Trees/Christmas Village top
Not finished but a little progress made
I'm down to the last 3 little houses on this one. Once I get those
done, I'll snap a layout pic and then move on to #2 below.
The lighting isn't great here but I love the lighter print trees
as they look like they've been snowed on!
2) Start on baby quilt: no progress. (Oof!)
3) Primitive Gatherings QAL: no progress.
With all the travel, I'm now <gasp> woefully behind!
Knitting
Decent progress knitting on all the flights while listening
to books. These are gifts so no pics at this time.
Garden
Lettuces, shallots, scallions and radishes are up; potatoes and
rhubarb, too. The broccoli and brussel sprouts doing well but will
need covered with netting asap! I'm getting the early spears of
asparagus but that will really kick in fast when the warm sun
comes back out. Hubs added 2 more raised beds that I've filled.
Three more to be added yet this spring yet and then stop until fall.
Yes, the garden re-do has been dragging out but I'm in no hurry.
New chicks have been ordered but they're very backed up so
their delivery isn't until mid-August. Probably a good thing
with all the traveling I'm doing but I'm sure missing the eggs.
Next few week's goals
For the most part, it's just keep working on all the above
but here's a quick list:
1) Finish last house blocks
2) Cut out and make top of baby quilt
3) Get caught up on QAL
4) Finish planting garden if weather allows
for the remaining crops (that can't take freeze).
Right now I'm struggling to stay up on my blog reading.
Hubs has a couple trips in the near future but I'm staying home
for a while and can hopefully get caught up with everyone.
We'll be off again soon but at least that one will be a vacay
for us both.
Until next time, happy quilting.
And/or gardening, golfing, knitting, traveling--whatever!
