Week 48: Quick Pre-Turkey Day Check-In; Christmas Quilt Finish

Happy Thanksgiving from The Morning Latte!

With everyone busy with pre-Turkey Day preparations,
I'll keep today's post down to a quick check-in but hey,
put your feet up a minute and take a coffee break!

I've been working on my own holiday prep:
* Pumpkin baked and pureed
* Turkey Day Broth made (for gravy)
* Butternut squash peeled, diced (for #22 on this page)
* Next 3 days' dinners prepared (so I can do other things!)
* Cleaning mostly done

With all of that, I still worked hard--maybe too hard--in the
sewing room, and hit the golf course a few times.  Was that
burnout I felt coming on while working over-achieving on #1
of my list?  With that quilt done, I think I'm good to go
but a little time off for a holiday is exactly what I need.
Let's see if I earned it:

1) Finish Christmas quilt top:  done & overachieved!
I finished the whole quilt.

"Hats & Hearths" (86.5 x 98)
Full directions found in BLOCK 2018 Vol 5, Is 6.

Sadly, not great lighting.  SO hard to get true pictures
of a white quilt, let alone on such a dark overcast day.

To bring it closer to queen-size, I added an outer border.

I have to admit, this project just wasn't doing much for me...

...until I quilted it.  The swirling snowflakes just really set it off!

Another quilt--another big one--done in a week.  Crazy.

2) Choose one more Christmas quilt:  done.

I've started pulling scrappy reds/ivories, thinking this one
will work for Valentine's Day and patriotic holidays, too.
More on this in my next post.

3) Start planning for upcoming patriotic quilts: not done.

4) Move small shrubs to new lot:  done.

With the family home, I don't want to be distracted by
goals in the quilt room so:  whatever gets done, gets done.
I'll see you back here next week with uh, progress on...
...er...something.

For now it's back to work for me.  And you, too!
Enjoy the holiday and happy quilting!

Thankfully we do this Holiday at my brother's so we are just required to bring a dessert and rolls and then help with clean up. Small price for some great memories. Happy Day to you and yours!
What a beautiful quilt! - I just saved it to my growing collection of To-Do's inspired by Cheree! That squash dish looks delicious. We are doing the traditional dinner with 9 family members plus one guest (our son-in-law's Mom), so it will be a full house here. Happy Thanksgiving!
